Can the same effect be produced with a harness leash? perhaps with slower results?
My dog engages, takes the treat and then bolts. Also, he always cuts me off and walks in front of me. No idea how to stop either of these. He’s a 10lb Boston Terrier. I am 6’2” so that combo is hard too but I’ve successfully leash trained 3 Boston’s before. This current boy is SO anxious and I’m wondering if that’s part of it?
So glad I found this channel
Yeah i tried a neck collar on my dog to stop him from pulling and it ended up breaking and collapsing his trachea and now he can't breath without weezing and coughing. Totally not a good idea you are basically killing them
My behavourist said to me NO negative training only positive training.
NO Slip Leads.
Poor George is very nervous when he getting pulled & strangled on the slip lead.
He doesnt know what is happening the poor dog..
Look at him mouth licking that is a VERY scared dog.
If he has had an owner in past who hurt him, hit him, then this type training is NO good he has become very fearful.
George needs more Positive training, maybe use treats so he looks up at owner & walks by his side.
Not all dogs will do well with certain ways of training & you need to change what you are doing.
1. Correction
2. Redirection
3. Reinforcement
3:00 how it looks
What if the dog is not treat focussed? My jack russel does not take treats at all.
is a slip lead suitable for a 5 month old cockapoo
Such charming little characters! May wellness and fortune follow you, connect with me!
I was able to shift directions to get my pup to engage more with me with no treats. Walking loose leash now and improved immensely in just a few days of doing this.
Thanks for pointing out the difference between the slip lead and the harness. I've been trying to train my dog to walk comfortably beside me with a harness and not having any success. I just ordered a slip lead and hopefully he'll be able to change it up this weekend.
Adorable mouse cartoon! Wishing you good health and success, let's connect!
How do you address the dog getting his treat way too aggressively? He about tears my flesh
You clearly know what you’re doing however this dog didn’t even pull until you quickly switched directions. If you did this with my dog she would’ve kept going and wouldn’t have just followed you when you said her name.
OK, I use a walker and I’m a pint sized adult. I want a dog. I’ve grown up with large dogs and if I’m gonna be living on my own, I would really feel much more comfortable with a large dog . But I’m afraid of them pulling really hard and cracking my head on concrete. I like to escape my walker and I do impact sports so a fall once in a while is OK. realistically, do you think I could train a dog well enough to be able to walk them safely?
Not trying to sound rude but I think dog owners should do their research before buying any dog
You should learn how to make a braid
Not sure if I missed it but why the slip lead?
What leash is it you’re using?
ALL animals "need exercise".
I have tried redirecting my dog when she starts to pull. She doesn't make eye contact. Really difficult and no fun taking her for awlk
Thanks!
Is it okay to this with a 4 month old dalmatian? I mean the slip rope around the neck to correct him?
Day one, tell it to stop, make it stop. Nine working dogs and never had more than a light rope lead. These horse tackle set ups make me roar with laughter. Just points out the owners have failed.
Would this work for 6m old King Charles cavalier?
